23.05.2026 | 15:06 |Diplomatic dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus received new impetus during a series of meetings held today in Ashgabat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The key event of the day was the interagency consultations led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov and his Belarusian counterpart Pavel Utyupin. A separate meeting was also held between the diplomat from Minsk and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
The diplomats focused on a wide range of bilateral issues. The parties thoroughly analyzed the current state of affairs and outlined specific steps to intensify cooperation. The political dialogue emphasized the importance of regular contacts between the foreign ministries and addressed the revision and expansion of the legal framework that serves as the foundation for interstate relations.
International cooperation occupied a special place in the discussion. The diplomats praised their joint work within major global and regional organizations, primarily the UN and the CIS. Minsk and Ashgabat confirmed their mutual willingness to continue supporting each other's initiatives aimed at ensuring global stability and sustainable development.

The economic component of the talks focused on assessing current levels of mutual trade and identifying ways to unlock export and import potential. Plans call for greater involvement of the private sector and business circles of both countries in this process. Humanitarian cooperation was no less important.
The traditionally strong ties in education, science, and culture will be further strengthened. Specifically, at the meeting with Rashid Meredov, the organization of specific joint cultural events planned for this year was discussed.
