China Internet Civilization Conference 2026 to Be Held in Nanning on May 19–20

The China Internet Civilization Conference 2026 will take place in Nanning, located in the southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The event will be held on May 19 and 20. The Cyberspace Administration of China announced this on Wednesday.

The conference runs under the motto: "Promoting a Civilized Cyberspace, Strengthening the Power of Progress." The program includes an opening ceremony, a main forum, and fourteen sub-forums.

Niu Yibin, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, explained the key topics to be discussed at the sub-forums. These include the online dissemination of the Communist Party of China's innovative theories, the connection between the internet and the development of civilized rural customs, and fostering a culture of online behavior. Other agenda items include creating a favorable online environment for business, cultivating "good Chinese internet users," and following the mass line in cyberspace.

Special attention will be given to the development of new forms of literature and art in the internet age, combating online rumors, charitable initiatives in cyberspace, and the social responsibility of internet enterprises. Participants will also discuss improving national digital literacy and skills, as well as developing online civilization with the help of artificial intelligence. The event will also showcase a series of achievements in building a civilized online environment.

Niu Yibin noted that the main forum will present outstanding examples of building a national internet civilization for 2026. The launch of National Digital Literacy and Skills Enhancement Month will also take place.

Ahead of the conference in Nanning, a special thematic event is planned called "Shaping the Soul and Guiding: Promoting a Clean Cyberspace in Guangxi."
