The delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the 72nd session of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe
14.05.2026 | 17:53 |The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Federal Republic of Germany and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UN Tourism, Mr. Berdimyrat Rejepov, is taking part in the 72nd Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, held from 12 to 14 May 2026 in St. Julian’s, Malta.
The conference, jointly organized by the UN Tourism Secretariat and the Government of Malta, brings together the member states of the Commission, as well as representatives of international organizations and specialized institutions.

Within the framework of the agenda, the participants of the session are discussing issues related to the global vision and regional approach in the field of tourism, the activities of UN Tourism, the implementation of the Programme of Work for Europe for 2025–2026, as well as cooperation with the Organization’s Affiliate Members. Particular attention is being paid to the preparations for the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism – 2027, the further development of international cooperation in the tourism sector, and the modern challenges currently facing the global tourism industry.

Turkmenistan’s participation in this international forum serves as clear evidence of the country’s active engagement in international processes aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and strengthening constructive dialogue in this area.
As an active member of the international community, Turkmenistan has established fruitful cooperation with the UN Tourism Secretariat aimed at developing the country’s tourism potential. Possessing unique natural attractions, a rich cultural and historical heritage, modern architecture, and innovative technologies, Turkmenistan continues to expand opportunities for the development of its national tourism industry and the strengthening of international partnership in the field of tourism.

Furthermore, within the framework of the international tourism exhibition and conference “Turkmentravel – 2026,” Turkmenistan, jointly with UN Tourism, organized a “Tourism Management Training for Representatives of the Tourism Industry of Turkmenistan,” in which students of specialized educational institutions and tourism companies of the country actively participated.
In addition, as part of the fruitful cooperation, the UN Tourism Secretariat provided a special certificate granting representatives of various institutions of the country the opportunity to participate in the online courses of the online Academy of the UN Tourism Academy for the training of specialists in various fields of the tourism industry.
