Iran National Football Team Confirms Training Base in Mexico for the 2026 World Cup

Iran’s national football team will officially relocate its pre-tournament training camp ahead of the final stage of the FIFA World Cup.

According to The Guardian, citing the Iranian Football Federation, the Fédération internationale de football association (FIFA) approved Iran’s request to change the location of its training base. Following successful meetings with FIFA officials in Istanbul and Tehran, the Mexican city of Tijuana was confirmed as the team’s new training location. Federation officials also noted that the squad would be able to travel comfortably to match venues using direct flights.

The team’s tournament format and schedule remain unchanged. FIFA President Gianni Infantino previously confirmed that Iran’s national team would fully participate in the World Cup and play all of its scheduled group-stage matches in stadiums across the United States, as originally planned during the draw.

The final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Iran was drawn into Group G, where it will face strong opponents. The Iranian team will begin its tournament campaign on June 15 in Los Angeles against New Zealand.

The team will then face Belgium in the same city on June 21, before concluding the group stage on June 26 with a match against Egypt in Seattle.
