Iranian trucks were granted visa-free entry to Afghanistan
18.04.2026 | 15:50 |Iranian cargo vehicles can now enter Afghanistan without visas and without paying entry fees. This was announced by Mahmoud Siadat, head of the Iran–Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce.
According to Siadat, standard foreign trade procedures remain in place at Iran’s eastern borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, the new measure significantly simplifies logistics for Iranian transport operators.
According to the Iran Chamber of Commerce, economic exchanges between Tehran and Kabul have historically continued regardless of political and military conditions in the region.
Siadat also noted that amid recent military tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, both countries are increasingly viewing Iran as a key transit corridor and an important source for meeting goods demand.
Note: The new agreement applies only to cargo transport and does not extend to passenger transportation.
