World Environment Day will be held in Azerbaijan

As part of its strategic partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), large-scale events dedicated to World Environment Day will take place in Azerbaijan's capital on June 5, 2026.

According to the country's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, this year's celebration will be held under the motto: "Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future." Azerbaijan officially took the baton to host this major environmental forum from the Republic of Korea, where the main events were held in 2024.

World Environment Day, established by the UN in 1972, has over the decades grown into the world's largest platform uniting millions of activists to protect the planet. Azerbaijan actively supports the global agenda by expanding protected natural areas, restoring unique ecosystems, and introducing renewable energy sources. As a participant in the Paris Agreement, the country is consistently meeting its commitments to reduce harmful emissions.

The event in Baku will serve as a logical continuation of the momentum generated during COP29. Its main goal is to transform international agreements into concrete, practical steps to combat climate change. The Republic of Azerbaijan, together with UNEP, calls on the global community to join the initiative and unite efforts to preserve our natural heritage for future generations.
