Belarus and Kyrgyzstan strengthen economic ties within the SCO framework
04.04.2026 | 06:00 |Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus Sergey Molunov and Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlist Akunbekov held a meeting focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation. The talks covered both bilateral projects and joint work within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), where Kyrgyzstan holds the chairmanship in 2026, BELTA reports.
For the SCO region, this chairmanship is being held under the slogan “25 years of the SCO: together towards sustainable peace, development, and prosperity.” The parties emphasized that the key priority for the coming year will be not only ensuring security but also launching new large-scale economic initiatives.
Transport, logistics, and digital technologies
Special attention during the meeting was given to the development of transit and transport potential. Kyrgyzstan proposes that member states focus on creating new road and railway routes. This will make international transportation more efficient and open up new opportunities for businesses across the region.
Another key area will be digitalization. Plans under Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship include holding the SCO Youth Digital Forum. This project aims to support young professionals and promote the implementation of modern IT solutions in the economies of member states.
Strengthening dialogue between Minsk and Bishkek within the SCO framework contributes to creating a stable and predictable environment for international trade. For businesses and government institutions in the region, this means simplified logistics and new platforms for implementing high-tech projects.
