The City of Arkadag Is Preparing Its Presentation at the World Forum
04.05.2026 | 16:25 |On May 2, National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to the city of Arkadag, where he inspected the progress of the second phase of construction.
The mosque and its adjacent museum complex occupy a special place in the second phase of construction. The National Leader emphasized that the construction of these spiritual and cultural centers requires a combination of ancestral traditions and innovative technologies, and that landscaping of the mosque grounds must be carried out on a strictly scientific basis, taking into account local natural features.
The head of the Khalk Maslakhaty noted that even the finishing and design of such facilities must meet international standards, and digital systems must permeate all stages of construction.
The social component of the second phase is impressive in its scale. While more than 7,000 families were provided with housing during the first phase, preparations are now underway for the construction of apartments for an additional 4,284 families. All buildings are equipped with digital systems for the efficient use of water, gas, and electricity.
It is proposed to establish personal scholarships for students in the new city, which will provide an additional incentive for them to master high technology.
A key outcome of the trip was the discussion of the city's delegation's participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (UN-Habitat), which will be held in Baku. Turkmenistan's first "smart" city experience, validated by international certifications, will be a key showcase for the country at this global forum. The innovations piloted here are designed to secure the country's rightful place in the international architectural and technological arena.
